Hello, my name is Valerie. I am black African and 37 years old. I was unemployed and looking for work for three years since 2020, with no success due to confidence in searching.
I wasn’t aware of the new laws for flexible working. Brian, my employment coach, took me through the laws and helped me with the best ways of negotiating my time. He helped me to build my confidence in looking for work by looking through my CV and highlighting the best way to structure it.
Due to his help, I managed to secure work as neighbourhood coordinator at a housing provider, picking up where I left off on my career path which I am so happy about.
I would recommend to anyone that you don’t lose heart at any point, and take your employment coach’s advice where you can because it’s invaluable.
